“As Is”: A Raw and Unfiltered Jam

“As Is” is another striking example of the “Jamateur” project—an uninhibited, live improvisational session captured in its purest form. True to its name, “As Is” presents a raw, five-minute snippet from an evolving jam session, recorded in the moment, untouched and unaltered. This spontaneous piece features three musicians: Brandon Lewis, a.k.a B-Riddims, on drums, Cenk Tezil on Hammond, and Ilker Çıracı on synthesizer.
“As Is”—Pure Improvisation, Unpolished and Unscripted
In an era where perfection is often pursued at the expense of spontaneity, “As Is” is a refreshing reminder of the magic that can unfold when musicians simply play. It’s an unedited snapshot of creativity in motion—improvised, unexpected, and entirely authentic. What started as an accident became a moment of musical synergy, proving that sometimes, the best music happens when you least expect it.

A Collective Story of “As Is”
The inception of “As Is” was as unplanned as its name suggests. Cenk, Ilker, and Brandon entered the studio with no agenda—just a shared drive to jam. During a break, Cenk left the room, unknowingly leaving his headphones resting on the synthesizer, pressing down a single E-flat note. Brandon, locked into his groove, continued playing over this drone. Ilker, upon re-entering, took the note as a cue and joined in, shaping a groove around the unintentional foundation. When Cenk returned, he instinctively jumped back in, layering textures on the Hammond. What emerged was a piece built entirely in the moment, a testament to the power of unspoken musical chemistry.
